What is one thing every dinner party needs?
Great question. If I were to narrow it down to just ONE thing, I would say a fun host. The host sets the vibe for everything that follows. Everyone has their own way of hosting but, no matter what, the host should always put their personality into the party; that's what makes the dinner unique fun!

How do you approach a table setting?
COLOR. I am a very driven by color. When I visualize the table, I imagine how everything will look on the table together (food, drinks, candles, table linens, dishes, etc.) in those hues. I choose a palette and start layering and playing around with the pieces I have. I tend to be more maximalist than minimalist as I love a lot going on at the table including color, pattern, stemware, ceramics, and of course Goldie Home linens.

What are your top 3 hosting essentials?
1. Well-stocked bar. Have the essentials and then some surprises such as a cool mezcal or a surprise drink. Do something just a bit unexpected when it comes to the cocktails part of the evening.
2. Music. The sign of a great dinner party is when the night turns into a DJ and even dance party. Start mellow and then let it build.
3. Luck. You always hope that your guests will have chemistry and connect but it's never a guarantee. When everyone is having a great time and the conversation keeps going and the wine keeps flowing, you are in luck and then it's so fun.

Do you start cleaning immediately after your guests leave, or do you leave it for the next morning?
If it was up to me, dishes would be brought to the sink but the cleaning would happen the next morning. Hands down. This way I can just savor the fun in the moment. However, my husband feels differently so it's a bit of both when it comes to the dinner parties chez nous.
